KROGER: CHEFBOT

• • •

Chefbot for Kroger, the country’s largest grocery retailer. This smart (and extra cute) recipe bot gets the most out of your food by sending you recipes based on ingredients you already have in your kitchen. Tweet a photo of 3 ingredients to @KrogerChefbot and try it out!

This project was particularly rewarding because I was able to work with Hornet on the design of the Chefbot character itself, from sketches through to 3D and the animation quirks of how Chefbot moves and behaves. It was important to us that the bot appear sleek and modern, while still containing nods to its nature as a recipe bot. To that end, elements like the grocery store receipt-printer mouth, tin can-inspired oversized head, and shopping cart wheel all come together into a character that contains enough familiar elements to feel natural its role recommending recipes, while still feeling cohesive as a robot and high tech.
